The 14th of November marks the Children’s Day on the Birth Anniversary of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. To make the day special for the children with and for whom we work as a part of Childline 1098 initiative, “Childline Dosti Week” was organised in the Nuh (Mewat district), Haryana.
The Dosti week celebrations began on the 5th of November when the Childline team visited the Project Concern International’s run Children’s Home in Nuh and conducted activities and games with the children. There are total 22 children in the home (all boys). The children enthusiastically participated in Kabbadi, painting, dog and the bone, bomb in the city etc.
On 11th November, 2016 a stakeholders meeting was organised in the Chetanalaya – Childline Office at Nuh by the Childline team. The meeting was attended by the CWC Chairperson and members, Police personnel, Media Persons, District Child Protection Officer etc. This was a gathering of the people working together for the protection of children. At the outset of the meeting, a prayer song was sung by all, followed by an ice breaking session. Then the Childline team informed the gathering about their achievements and acknowledged the contribution of all; the CWC and others present for the same. The Childline friendship bands were tied to each other with the promise to work together for children and their rights. The platform was given for discussions and deliberations. Also, the gathering was divided in groups and they made posters on the issues pertaining to children for whom they work and discussion was held. In the end, the Childline team thanked everyone for attending the meeting and participating in the Dosti Week.
On 16th November, the final celebration for the 2016 Dosti Week was organised at the PCI Children’s Home. It was the prize distribution ceremony for the games and activities held with the children on 5th November, 2016. The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. Narender Singh, the Chief Judicial Magistrate of the district. He has been very kind and helpful to the Childline team and always facilitated the work related to children. The event was also attended by Chetanalaya’s Director, Fr. Savari and the guests Fr. Tawamani and Sr. Sisley along with the Childline team and the PCI members. At the outset, a lamp was lighted and Sr. Anita welcomed all the guests followed by Childline’s introduction by the team member, Mr. Sabir. After the introduction, the children performed a group dance. Then the Chief Guest and Fr. Savari enlightened everyone with their words. They motivated everyone to join hands and work for children and encouraged the children to study, learn and dream big for their future. Then the most awaited moment for the children arrived and they received the prizes, also the staff of the children’s home was felicitated for their work. Then everyone present tied the friendship bands to each other. In the end, the Child Protection Policy of
Chetanalaya was released by the guests present at the event.
The Childline Dosti Week brought together all, the children and other stakeholders working for and with children and the event was appreciated by all.
