24th April 2018 was a special day for Chetanalaya and the community people at Sunder Nagri, Delhi. Chetanalaya with support of Rosary Senior Secondary School, Kingsway Camp, opened a special school called ‘Çhetanalaya Vishesh Gurukul – Rehabilitation, Research and Resource Center’ for Persons with disabilities. Rev. Fr. John Britto, Director of Chetanalaya, Mr. Nicholas Guia Rebelo, Director of Collective Rights for Basic Rights Foundation, and Rev. Fr.Vincent D’Souza, Principal of Rosary Sr. Sec. School graced the occasion as the chief guests. The inauguration programme began with the ribbon cutting ceremony followed by welcoming of the chief guests with plants. Fr. Vincent and Mr. Nicholas briefly spoke about CVG and how it will help to rehabilitate the CwDs and PwDs in the long run. Later, Ms. Reshma who has been appointed as the special educator of CVG, introduced all the enrolled students of the Center. Each student of the Gurukul is unique and special in its own way. The students are of different age groups who have disabilities like speech & hearing, Intellectual disability, Acid attack and others.
The beneficiaries were then invited to share their experience with the audience. Many of the parents of the PwDs/CwDs came forward and shared the benefits of the CVG center for their wards. This motivated all those present at the occasion to enroll and send their wards with disabilities regularly to the Gurukul without any fear. This was followed by a vote of thanks by Ms. Reshma, followed by a group photograph with all those associated with Chetanalaya Vishesh Gurukul.
